The Tortoris Safe 10 is a safety knife of safety level 1 with automatic blade retraction. The blade retracts as soon as the thumb releases the slider.
The aluminium housing and the inner parts made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic provide high stability and a long service life. The particularly ergonomic design with a large, rubberised thumb slider is especially smooth-running – making the knife suited to intensive use of more than 1,000 cuts per day.
The slider can be operated from both sides – so the knife suits right- and left-handed users without conversion. The cutting depth can be set in two stages, to 6 mm or 21 mm. The blade is changed without tools directly at the workstation, and the wide blade opening at the front ensures that dirt or adhesive residue does not impede the blade retraction; at 58 g the knife stays pleasantly light even in continuous use.

The Tortoris Safe 10 is suitable for a wide range of materials. It is particularly strong on corrugated board, adhesive tape, stretch film and strapping – the typical materials in goods receiving. The 2-stage cutting depth adjustment (6 mm / 21 mm) allows use on different material thicknesses without changing tools.
The Safe 10 cleanly separates the lids and flaps of folding cartons and corrugated board without touching the contents.
It opens sealed cartons along the adhesive tape – the cutting depth reduced to 6 mm protects the goods underneath.

The Tortoris Safe 10 takes all standard trapezoid blades 19 mm wide with notches on the blade back – the market standard that makes blades from different manufacturers compatible. Many suppliers such as Martor or Slice instead rely on proprietary systems with centre holes that only fit their own handles. In the Safe 10, for example, the K014 (tungsten carbide), K015 (black blade) and K013 (rounded tip) work.
On the Tortoris Safe 10, a spring mechanism keeps the blade retracted at all times. The blade is only released when the thumb actively pushes the slider forward – and it retracts immediately as soon as the thumb lets go. This prevents cuts after the cut, for example when putting the knife down or touching it by accident.
