Safety knife Pro long – with automatic blade retraction

Cutting depth 38 mm | Metal housing | wide blade opening

The Pro semi-automatic long (U002P) is a safety level 1 safety knife with automatic blade retraction. The blade retracts as soon as the thumb releases the slider.

The blade is carried by a sturdy aluminium housing with a grippy SoftGrip that offers a secure hold even during longer use. The knife is therefore designed for intensive use of more than 1,000 cuts per day.

The knife can be converted for left- and right-handed use in a few steps. The blade is changed without tools directly at the workstation, and the wide blade opening at the front of the housing ensures that dirt or adhesive tape residues do not block the blade retraction. At around 93 grams, the knife is also one of the lightweights among safety knives.

Thanks to the long blade with a cutting depth of up to 38 mm, the knife is particularly suited to thicker materials such as foams, big bags or multi-layer cartons. The main fields of application are logistics and warehouse, where reliable cutting in continuous operation counts – it can equally be used in production, retail and trades. Safety knives overview

Further features
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.
Ergonomics: ergonomic design
Ergonomic design — the handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Ergonomics: SoftGrip
SoftGrip — reduces fatigue over long shifts thanks to grippy, padded zones.
Ergonomics: tool-free blade change
Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: thumb slider
Thumb slider — the blade is pushed forward with the thumb in the classic way.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Ergonomics: smooth-running slider
Smooth-running slider — operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight: < 100 g
< 100 g — noticeably lighter than all-metal knives without sacrificing stability. Comfortable with frequent, repeated use throughout the day. This model weighs 93 g.
Material: premium carbon steel
Premium carbon steel — refined alloy with even better edge retention, for particularly demanding continuous use.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: high initial sharpness
High initial sharpness — especially sharp from the first cut, ideal when maximum cutting performance is needed immediately.
Sharpness: long edge life
Long edge life — much longer service life until the next blade change than standard blades. Reduces change intervals and blade consumption in intensive use.
Blade safety: without snap-off segments
Without snap-off segments — continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Blade safety: few mounting holes
Few mounting holes — fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Replacement blades

The long safety cutter is supplied with a KB3-N (premium carbon steel blade, plain grind). The knife is compatible with standard blades from various manufacturers in the “polystyrene” format – the same blade also fits the Martor Secunorm 540 and the Tortoris US11. Our recommendation for everyday use: KB3-N. Overview of all cutter blades

Alternatives

All the alternatives shown are safety level 1 safety knives with automatic blade retraction. The US11 offers the same cutting depth with a double-sided instead of a single-sided slider and is cheaper. The Secunorm 540 is almost identical in construction to the long safety cutter, but with GS certification instead of SoftGrip. The US10 and the Secunorm 380 differ in cutting depth and design.

Accessories

Complement the long safety cutter with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the long safety cutter – we answer them here in detail. If you have further questions, we are happy to help you personally: To the contact form

Which replacement blades fit the long safety cutter (U002P)?
The long safety cutter accepts blades in the “polystyrene” format – available as premium carbon steel, plain (KB3-N), with a serrated edge (KB3-S) or as a stainless steel blade (KM17940). The same blades also fit the Martor Secunorm 540 and the Tortoris US11.
Is the long safety cutter suitable for left-handed users?
Yes, the long safety cutter can be converted for left- or right-handed use. Unlike the Tortoris US11, however, the slider cannot be operated directly on both sides without a conversion.
Which safety level does the long safety cutter have?
The long safety cutter is a safety level 1 safety knife: a spring pulls the blade back automatically as soon as the slider is released. Safety level 1 is an industry-defined classification, not an EN standard.
What is the long safety cutter best suited for?
Thanks to its cutting depth of up to 38 mm, the long safety cutter is suitable for almost all common cutting materials and is particularly widespread in logistics and production, where high numbers of cuts are made every day.
