Rebel – fully automatic retraction, ergonomic pliers grip

Fully automatic blade retraction | Pliers grip | usable on both sides

Developed for professional use, the Rebel safety knife combines a high level of cut protection with ergonomics suited to everyday work. The fully automatic blade retraction (safety level 2) pulls the blade back into the housing by itself after every cut and reliably protects users from accidental cuts. Instead of the classic thumb slider, an ergonomic pliers grip provides a comfortable design that spares wrist and tendons even with frequent use. The sturdy GRP housing is designed for daily use in the workshop and warehouse and withstands rough working conditions; an integrated transport lock also prevents the blade from being released by accident during storage and shipping. The Rebel is therefore particularly suitable for safety officers, logistics managers and production managers looking for a user-friendly and at the same time safe working knife for daily use. Highlights

  • Very high occupational safety: fully automatic blade retraction (safety level 2)
  • Suitable for left- and right-handed users: the pliers grip can be operated on both sides without any conversion – ideal for changing users in a team
  • Compact, precise cutting depth: 17 mm blade length for controlled cuts in cardboard, adhesive tape and strapping
  • Reduced risk of injury: the trapezoid blade has no snap-off segments, so no individual blade segments break off during the cut
  • Safe during storage and shipping: an integrated transport lock prevents the blade from being released by accident when not in use

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Operate the pliers grip and extend the blade, keeping the grip pressed.
  2. 2 Pull the small blue slider at the front towards the back and hold it as well.
  3. 3 Remove the trapezoid blade by its blunt back.
  4. 4 Turn the blade over or insert a new blade.
  5. 5 Release the blue slider first.
  6. 6 Then release the pliers grip.
  7. 7 Dispose of old and dull blades safely, e.g. in a collection box for blades.

Replacement blades

The Rebel safety knife is supplied with an uncoated trapezoid carbon steel blade (without its own CURT article number). The knife is compatible with standard trapezoid blades from various manufacturers – the tool-free blade change via the pliers grip makes replacing them particularly easy. Our recommendation for everyday use: KB1-N5 (trapezoid blade with TiN coating). Overview of all trapezoid blades

Alternatives

Besides the Rebel, CURT offers further fully automatic level 2 safety knives with different emphases: the UES44 with a classic pliers grip, the premium knife UAS100 with fully automatic blade guard, the martor Secupro Maxisafe with a thumb slider and wider housing opening, and the PHC EZAR as a compact basic version with a shorter cutting depth. All alternatives achieve the same high level of cut protection, but differ in operating concept, equipment and price class.

Accessories

Complement the Rebel safety knife with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the Rebel safety knife – we answer them here in detail. If you have further questions, we are happy to help you personally: To the contact form

Which safety level does the Rebel have?
The Rebel achieves safety level 2 and pulls the blade fully and automatically back into the housing after every cut. This fully automatic blade retraction reliably protects against accidental cuts when handling the knife.
How do I change the blade on the Rebel?
To change the blade, operate the pliers grip, extend the blade and pull the small blue slider at the front towards the back. The dull trapezoid blade can then be removed without tools, turned over or replaced with a new blade – you will find step-by-step instructions in the Downloads section.
Is the Rebel detectable?
No, the Rebel has no metal detectability and is therefore not suitable for areas with metal detector checks such as food production. For such applications we recommend a safety knife with the corresponding certificate.
Where do I reorder replacement blades and accessories for the Rebel?
Matching replacement blades such as the KB1-N5 can be found directly on this product page in the Replacement blades section. Accessories such as collection boxes, lanyards or holsters can be conveniently added to your order in the Accessories section.
