Safety knife AS100 – with fully automatic blade guard

Cutting depth 23 mm | Metal housing | Pliers grip

RiteKnife AS100 is a safety level 2 safety knife with a fully automatic blade guard. A movable protective guard sits in front of the fixed blade: it folds away as the blade enters the material and snaps back in front of the blade as soon as the cut ends or the knife slips – even if the pliers grip is still squeezed.

The metal housing is designed for high stability and hard continuous use. The particularly ergonomic pliers-grip design releases the protective guard before the cut by squeezing the handle shells – without repeated thumb pressure – and works particularly smoothly. The premium carbon steel blade achieves a very long edge life over several thousand cuts; the knife is therefore designed for intensive use of more than 1,000 cuts per day.

Right- and left-handed users can operate the AS100 directly without any conversion. The blade is changed without tools using a lever on the top of the housing. The wide blade opening at the front keeps the guard mechanism free even when residues of the cut material cling to it, and a transport lock blocks the trigger during storage and transport.

The AS100 covers a wide range of materials – from corrugated board, big bags and sacks to strapping, adhesive tape, shrink film and rubber. Because the blade is fixed and only the protective guard moves, thin and soft materials are also cut cleanly without the blade having to be released again and again. It plays to its strengths in intensive use in logistics, production and goods receiving. Safety knives overview

Highlights

  • Very high safety: fully automatic blade guard (safety level 2)
  • High dirt tolerance: wide blade opening at the front keeps the safety mechanism working reliably even when dirt gets in
  • Fatigue-free working: ergonomic pliers-grip release instead of a thumb slider, suitable for pulling and pushing cuts even with heavy, forceful cuts
  • For left- and right-handed users: ready to use straight away without conversion, no need to change the hand position
  • Safe in transport: transport lock prevents the blade mechanism from being released by accident

Applications & cutting materials

The AS100 cuts almost the entire range of materials very well: corrugated board, adhesive tape, stretch film, strapping, sacks, twine, ropes, PVC film, fleece and rubber. Polystyrene is also cut reliably, although not quite as effortlessly as the other materials. The knife therefore reliably covers most cutting tasks in logistics, production and food and pharmaceutical plants.

Strong on thick and thin materials

Stripping the outer layer of rolls — Safety knife RiteKnife AS100 – fully automatic blade retraction, protective guard im Einsatz

Stripping the outer layer of rolls

Paper and film rolls can be opened cleanly and without snagging with pulling, forceful cuts when stripping off the outer layers.

Cardboard – lids/flaps — Safety knife RiteKnife AS100 – fully automatic blade retraction, protective guard im Einsatz

Cardboard – lids/flaps

Single- to triple-wall corrugated board is cut in a controlled way when cutting off lids and flaps and for window cuts, without hitting the contents of the carton.

Adhesive tape — Safety knife RiteKnife AS100 – fully automatic blade retraction, protective guard im Einsatz

Adhesive tape

The fixed blade cuts adhesive tape and taped carton seams in one pass, without having to be released again.

Further features
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.
Ergonomics: ergonomic design
Ergonomic design — the handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Ergonomics: tool-free blade change
Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: pliers grip
Pliers grip — the blade is activated simply by squeezing the handle shells, without thumb pressure. Particularly gentle with frequent use and at safety level 2, where the blade has to be re-activated after every cut.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Ergonomics: smooth-running slider
Smooth-running slider — operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight: > 100 g
> 100 g — higher dead weight, usually due to all-metal construction. More robustness at somewhat lower comfort over long periods. This model weighs 186 g.
Material: premium carbon steel
Premium carbon steel — refined alloy with even better edge retention, for particularly demanding continuous use.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: high initial sharpness
High initial sharpness — especially sharp from the first cut, ideal when maximum cutting performance is needed immediately.
Sharpness: very long edge life
Very long edge life — maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.
Blade safety: without snap-off segments
Without snap-off segments — continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Blade safety: rounded tip
Rounded tip — prevents puncture injuries without limiting the cutting performance of the blade edge. Particularly relevant for overhead or blind work.
Blade safety: few mounting holes
Few mounting holes — fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Pull the grey lever on top out of the housing.
  2. 2 Hold the blade by its blunt upper edge and pull it out towards the front.
  3. 3 Turn the blade over or push a new blade into the handle from the front.
  4. 4 Align the blade exactly on the guide cam with the hole.
  5. 5 Push the grey lever back into the handle until it latches.
  6. 6 Dispose of old, dull blades safely in a blade box.

Replacement blades

The AS100 is supplied with a K020 (premium trapezoid blade, proprietary special shape). The knife only accepts AS100-compatible special blades – pay attention to compatibility when buying, as standard trapezoid blades from other manufacturers do not fit. A hook blade is also available for special cutting tasks. Our recommendation for everyday use: K020 (trapezoid blade). Special blades overview

Alternatives

Besides the AS100 we offer further level 2 safety knives with fully automatic blade retraction: the ES44 and the PHC Rebel as lower-priced entry-level versions with a plastic housing, the Secupro 625 from martor at a comparable premium level, and the compact Martego for shorter cutting depths. This way you will find the right safety knife for your budget and your application.

Accessories

Complement the AS100 with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the AS100 – we answer them here in detail. If you have further questions, we are happy to help you personally: To the contact form

How do I change the blade on the AS100?
The blade on the AS100 is changed without tools: pull the lever on top out of the housing, take the blade out towards the front and turn it over or insert a new K020. Important: the blade must sit exactly on the guide cam before the lever is latched in again.
Which replacement blades fit the AS100?
The K020 (trapezoid blade) and the K020H (hook blade) are available for the AS100 – both are proprietary premium carbon steel blades made especially for this model. Third-party blades do not fit because of the special shape.
Is the AS100 detectable?
No, the AS100 is not detectable. For areas where metal detectors are mandatory, for example in food production, we recommend a detectable model from our range.
Is the AS100 suitable for left-handed users?
Yes, the AS100 can be used with either hand without any conversion – right- and left-handed users grip the identical pliers-grip release.
