CB100 – BoxCutter level 3 with blade change

Safety level 3 | tool-free blade change | extremely long edge life of the blade

The CB100 with protective hook combines safety level 3 with tool-free blade change – and offers the lowest operating costs in this category: €8.99 for the handle (one-off), €0.99 per replacement blade. The integrated magnet holds the blade securely in the handle during the change. The patented Flowthrough™ technology from RiteKnife reduces cutting resistance and is easy on the joints at over 1,000 cuts a day. Blades from MOZART Blades, Solingen, deliver an edge life of over 4,000 cuts per side – the highest of all BoxCutters on the market. For logistics managers and safety officers who want to combine the highest safety with low operating costs. More in the Safety knives overview.

Highlights

  • Maximum safety: through a protective hook (safety level 3) that fully covers the blade outside the handle – no unintended contact possible
  • Economical continuous operation: thanks to tool-free blade change – handle €8.99 one-off, K006 replacement blades can be reordered at €0.99 each
  • Joint-friendly cutting: through patented Flowthrough™ technology (RiteKnife) with optimised blade angle and reduced cutting resistance
  • Outstanding edge life: thanks to MOZART blades from Solingen – over 4,000 cuts per side, K006 usable on both sides for a total of >8,000 cuts
  • Versatile use: Corrugated board, stretch film, sacks and strapping – plus tape slitter and eyelet for attachment

Applications & cutting materials

The CB100 with protective hook is designed for the typical materials in logistics, goods receiving and production. It is particularly strong on corrugated board, stretch film, sacks and strapping – exactly the tasks where the highest safety is required every day. The concealed blade (level 3) reliably protects against accidental contact.

Knife know-how

The CB100 with protective hook stands out with four core strengths: safety level 3 for maximum protection, excellent suitability for cardboard and corrugated board, tool-free blade change for the lowest operating costs – and the longest blade edge life of all BoxCutters on the market, powered by MOZART Blades Solingen.

Further features
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.
Ergonomics: tool-free blade change
Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Weight: < 50 g
< 50 g — featherlight, practically unnoticeable when carried all day, for example on the belt or in the hand. This model weighs 28 g.
Material: premium carbon steel
Premium carbon steel — refined alloy with even better edge retention, for particularly demanding continuous use.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: high initial sharpness
High initial sharpness — especially sharp from the first cut, ideal when maximum cutting performance is needed immediately.
Sharpness: very long edge life
Very long edge life — maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.
Blade safety: without snap-off segments
Without snap-off segments — continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Blade safety: few mounting holes
Few mounting holes — fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Hold the CB100 with the underside facing up.
  2. 2 Open the folding mechanism sideways – the housing swings open.
  3. 3 Remove the dull K006 blade; the magnet holds it securely in the handle.
  4. 4 Insert a new K006 blade – check the alignment of the protective hook.
  5. 5 Close the housing until it latches audibly.
  6. 6 Check that the protective hook is seated correctly.
  7. 7 Tip: K006 is usable on both sides – turn it over instead of changing it for a further >4,000 cuts.

Replacement blades

The CB100 uses only the K006 replacement blade – a proprietary trapezoid blade made of carbon steel, manufactured by MOZART Blades in Solingen. With over 4,000 cuts per side and the option of turning it over, each K006 reaches more than 8,000 cuts. All blades in the CURT range: Overview of all cutter knife blades.

Variants

The CB100 with protective hook is also available with a narrow cutting channel: the CB100-NG offers the same safety level 3 and the same blade change system, but is designed for applications in which a wider cutting channel is undesirable – for example with sensitive packaging or a tight cutting gap.

Accessories

Complement the CB100 with protective hook with matching CURT accessories: collection boxes for used K006 blades, lanyards for secure attachment to the belt, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for practical storage.

Frequently asked questions

The most frequently asked questions about the CB100 with protective hook – on safety level 3, blade change, the edge life of the K006 and the TCO advantage over disposable BoxCutters.

Why does the CB100 have safety level 3 even though it looks like a normal BoxCutter?

The CB100 with protective hook has safety level 3 because the end of the blade outside the handle is fully shielded by a plastic overmould (protective hook). Unlike conventional BoxCutters, the blade is never exposed – neither during cutting nor during transport or changing. Safety level 3 is the highest level of the industry-standard classification; it is not an EN standard but describes the protective effect of the design.

How does the tool-free blade change work on the CB100?

The CB100 opens via a folding mechanism at the side. An integrated magnet holds the old K006 blade securely in the housing – it cannot fall out and there is no unintended contact with the cutting edge. Insert a new blade, latch the housing, done. The change takes a few seconds, without tools. Tip: K006 is usable on both sides – simply turn it over for more than 4,000 further cuts on the second side.

When does the CB100 pay off compared with disposable BoxCutters?

Depending on the model, disposable BoxCutters cost around €2 each. The CB100 costs €8.99 (handle, one-off) plus €0.99 per K006 replacement blade. From the fifth blade change, the CB100 is cumulatively below the cost of five disposable BoxCutters – with a much longer edge life (over 4,000 cuts per blade) and a higher safety level. With intensive use, the investment pays for itself correspondingly faster.

What do >4,000 cuts per side mean for the CB100?

In standardised tests, the K006 blade achieves over 4,000 cuts per side on triple-wall corrugated board – around 7× more than comparable BoxCutter blades. Since the K006 can be turned over, this gives a total edge life of over 8,000 cuts per blade. For heavy users with more than 1,000 cuts a day, this means far less frequent blade changes and lower blade costs.

Is the CB100 suitable for opening sacks?

Yes – the CB100 with protective hook is explicitly designed for opening film sacks, woven sacks and big bags. The 7 mm cutting depth and the wide blade gap allow reliable cutting even with contracting or welded materials. At the same time, the protective hook prevents the contents from being damaged by cuts that are too deep – an advantage over BoxCutters with an open cutting channel.
