Secunorm 380 – long blade with automatic retraction

76 mm cutting depth | automatic blade retraction | stainless steel rail & GRP

The martor Secunorm 380 safety knife impresses with its high-quality construction of stainless steel rail and GRP handle – a quality otherwise found only in the premium class. The long blade without snap-off segments makes the Secunorm 380 a specialist for thick materials such as polystyrene, foams and packaging that call for a blade length that bends easily. It is therefore particularly suitable for use in production, where robust tools are needed in continuous use. The GS mark confirms the tested safety of the knife according to recognised test criteria. With the Secunorm 380, safety officers and production managers get a safety knife with premium equipment for demanding cutting tasks. You will find further information in our Safety knives overview.

Highlights

  • High occupational safety: automatic blade retraction (safety level 1)
  • Premium workmanship: Stainless steel rail and GRP housing instead of simple plastic – cutter knife construction at the highest quality level
  • Very high flexibility: 76 mm cutting depth – almost twice as long as comparable safety knives with a steel blade
  • Ideal for thick materials: Blade without snap-off segments – designed for polystyrene, foams and other thick packaging materials
  • Long edge life: Premium carbon steel with very long edge life – infrequent blade changes even in intensive use

Replacement blades

The Secunorm 380 is supplied with a KM79 (blade without snap-off segments, premium carbon steel from the KM79 blade family). The knife is compatible with standard polystyrene blades from various manufacturers – the blade mount is not a CURT proprietary standard. Our recommendation for daily use: the K043O. Variants

If you prefer a fixed, adjustable cutting depth to the 76 mm long blade of the Secunorm 380, the Secubase 383 is a cutter knife variant: the cutting depth can be set to a fixed value, optionally with automatic blade retraction, at a maximum of 73 mm. This lets you limit the blade length exactly to the material thickness.

Alternatives

Like the Secunorm 380, all four alternatives offer automatic blade retraction (safety level 1), but they differ clearly in blade length: the US11, Secunorm 540 and the long safety cutter offer around 4 cm cutting depth for everyday universal use, while the ceramic safety blade U10560 at 76 mm also reaches the extra long blade of the Secunorm 380 – but with ceramic instead of steel.

Accessories

Complement the Secunorm 380 with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Secunorm 380 detectable?
The Secunorm 380 has no detectability feature (MDP) and is therefore not intended for use in food production where metal detectors are mandatory. However, it bears the GS mark for tested safety and is suitable for logistics, production and other industries.
Is the Secunorm 380 suitable for left-handed users?
Yes, the Secunorm 380 can also be set up for left-handed users by simply converting the one-sided slider. Operation on both sides without conversion is not possible due to the design.
Which safety level does the Secunorm 380 have?
The Secunorm 380 has safety level 1: the blade retracts automatically into the housing as soon as it leaves the material being cut. A transport lock additionally secures the slider.
What is the Secunorm 380 best suited for?
With 76 mm cutting depth, the Secunorm 380 specialises in thick materials such as polystyrene and foams as well as long cuts with an easily bending blade – for example on rolls and splice points in the paper industry. For thin everyday materials we recommend a shorter blade for safety reasons.
