Secunorm 540 – automatic blade retraction with a long blade

wide blade opening | large, smooth-running slider | 36 mm long blade

The Secunorm 540 safety knife from martor combines automatic blade retraction (safety level 1) with a high-quality metal housing made of metal and glass-fibre-reinforced plastic that sits firmly in the hand even with frequent use. The 36 mm long polystyrene blade without snap-off segments cuts through thicker materials in one continuous cut instead of having to start several times – a clear advantage over shorter standard blades. Designed for intensive use with more than 1,000 cuts per day, the Secunorm 540 remains reliable and dimensionally stable even under continuous load in shift operation. This makes it the right choice for logistics managers and safety officers who need a robust, durable tool for high cutting frequencies in warehousing and shipping. Safety knives overview

Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Weight: < 100 g
< 100 g — noticeably lighter than all-metal knives without compromising on stability. Comfortable with frequent, repeated use throughout the day. This model weighs 79 g.
Material: premium carbon steel
Premium carbon steel — refined alloy with even better edge retention, for particularly demanding continuous use.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: high initial sharpness
High initial sharpness — especially sharp from the first cut, ideal when maximum cutting performance is needed immediately.
Sharpness: long edge life

Replacement blades

The Secunorm 540 safety knife is supplied with a KM7940 (premium carbon steel blade, plain grind). The knife is compatible with standard polystyrene blades from various manufacturers. Our recommendation for daily use: KB3-N (premium carbon steel blade, plain grind). Overview of all cutter knife blades

Variants

The Secunorm 525 is the more compact version of the Secunorm 540: the same automatic blade retraction and one-sided slider, but with a shorter cutting depth of around 20 mm instead of 36 mm. If you mainly cut thinner materials and do not need a model with a long blade, the Secunorm 525 is a slimmer, equally safe alternative.

Alternatives

Alongside the Secunorm 540, CURT offers other safety knives with automatic blade retraction (safety level 1) for long blades: the US11 with a slider on both sides, the U002P with additional SoftGrip, the U010 made of continuous metal with a rear slider and the Secunorm 380 with up to 8 cm cutting depth for particularly thick materials. Depending on your grip preference and the blade length you need, you will find the right alternative here.

Accessories

Complement the Secunorm 540 with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.
