Safety knife Secunorm 525 – with automatic blade retraction

Cutting depth 21 mm | metal housing | wide housing opening at the front

martor Secunorm 525 is a safety level 1 safety knife with automatic blade retraction. The blade retracts as soon as the thumb releases the slider.

The housing is made of robust aluminium (metal housing), and the particularly ergonomic design combines a large thumb slider with particularly smooth operation. The knife is therefore designed for intensive use of more than 1,000 cuts per day.

After a simple conversion, the Secunorm 525 can be used by left- and right-handed users. The tool-free blade change can be carried out directly at the workstation, the knife is GS-certified and has a wide housing opening at the front that keeps the blade retraction working reliably even when dirty.

Thanks to its universal use, the Secunorm 525 is suitable for a wide range of applications, especially in logistics for opening and processing cardboard, adhesive tape and PVC film. Safety knives overview

Further features

Safety

Magnet for blade changes
Lets you change the blade without tools and without touching the sharp blade directly.
Without snap-off segments
Continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Rounded tip
Prevents puncture injuries without limiting the cutting performance of the blade edge. Particularly relevant for overhead or blind work.
Few mounting holes
Fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Handle & ergonomics

Ergonomic design
The handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Left- and right-handed
Can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Large slider
Generously sized, can be operated safely and over a large area, even with gloves.
Smooth-running slider
Operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight < 100 g
Noticeably lighter than all-metal knives without giving up stability. Comfortable with frequent, repeated use throughout the day. This model weighs 79 g.

Blade

Premium carbon steel
Refined alloy with even better edge retention, for particularly demanding continuous use.
Uncoated
Constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
High initial sharpness
Especially sharp from the first cut, ideal when maximum cutting performance is needed immediately.
Very long edge life
Maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.

Special features

Wide housing opening
The generously sized opening makes blade changes easier, even with gloves.
Tool-free blade change
Insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Eyelet
For attaching to a belt, carabiner or lanyard so the knife stays within easy reach.
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.

Replacement blades

The Secunorm 525 is supplied with a KM60099 (trapezoid blade made of premium carbon steel, rounded tips). The knife accepts only trapezoid blades from the martor 99 series – pay attention to compatibility when buying. Our recommendation for everyday use: the KM60099. Overview of all trapezoid blades

Variants

If you need a longer cutting depth, the Secunorm 540 is the right variant from the same series: it shares the one-sided raised slider and the automatic blade retraction with the Secunorm 525, but has a blade around 4 cm long instead of the compact 21 mm – ideal for deeper cuts in thicker materials.

Alternatives

The Secunorm 525 belongs to the most widespread category of safety knives with safety level 1, automatic blade retraction and a blade length of around 20 mm. A direct comparison shows differences in detail: the US10 uses a slider on both sides and a universal rather than proprietary blade, the Tajima VRex 103 has a complete metal housing with a slider on the back of the knife, the U014 also has a metal housing, but with the slider on top, and the U013 is the low-priced basic version with a wide handle.

Accessories

Complement the Secunorm 525 with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.
