Basic mini – featherlight and always within easy reach

Automatic blade retraction | 8 mm blade length | only 37 g in weight

The Basic mini safety knife is a particularly compact folding knife with automatic blade retraction (safety level 1): after every cut, the spring pulls the blade back into the metal handle on its own and so protects against unintentional contact with the cutting edge. Folded up, the Basic mini measures only about 3 cm, and with its barely noticeable weight of 37 g it can be carried in a trouser pocket at any time. Designed for occasional use in everyday branch work – for example for opening cartons or cutting adhesive tape – it is aimed at safety officers and branch managers looking for a small reserve knife for infrequent cutting tasks. More on choosing suitable models: Safety knives overview.

Highlights

  • High occupational safety: automatic blade retraction (safety level 1)
  • Safe blade guidance when opening cartons: integrated tape slitter cuts parcel tape without exposing the cutting edge
  • Robust blade holder: metal cap at the front of the impact-resistant PP housing, insensitive to knocks and tilting
  • Very low weight: only 37 g, in the featherweight range – barely noticeable in a trouser pocket or on a key ring
  • No snap-off segments: continuous trapezoid blade, reversible, usable twice, without predetermined breaking points, usable by right- and left-handed users

Alternatives

The Basic mini is designed for occasional everyday cuts in retail – if you cut more often or more intensively, you will find a more suitable model among our alternatives. The Ergocut mini offers a similarly compact blade at a low price, the Secunorm 175 scores with a slider on both sides and tool-free blade change, the Basic stands out with a wider handle for more grip, and the Mini Ceramic relies on a special safety blade. All four share the Basic mini’s automatic blade retraction of safety level 1.
