Safety knife Ergocut mini – with automatic blade retraction

Cutting depth 10 mm | Plastic housing | Wide blade opening

The Ergocut mini is a safety level 1 safety knife with automatic blade retraction. The blade retracts as soon as the thumb releases the slider.

The handle is made of plastic in a particularly ergonomic design with a smooth-running thumb slider. The knife is therefore designed for frequent use of up to 1,000 cuts per day.

The slider can be operated on both sides, so the knife is suitable for right- and left-handed users without any conversion. The blade is changed without tools. A deliberately wide blade gap at the front keeps the automatic retraction working even when adhesive tape or dirt sticks to the blade, and the knife carries the GS mark of the VPA Remscheid.

The Ergocut mini is designed for the typical cutting tasks in retail branches – opening cartons and cutting off flaps, cutting strapping and adhesive tape, cutting open bags and blister packs. The short cutting depth of 10 mm protects the contents of the packaging. Safety knives overview

Further features
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.
Ergonomics: ergonomic design
Ergonomic design — the handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Ergonomics: tool-free blade change
Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: thumb slider
Thumb slider — the blade is pushed forward with the thumb in the classic way.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Ergonomics: large slider

Ergonomics: smooth-running slider
Smooth-running slider — operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight: < 50 g
< 50 g — featherlight, practically unnoticeable when carried all day, for example on a belt or in the hand. This model weighs 21 g.
Material: premium carbon steel
Premium carbon steel — refined alloy with even better edge retention, for particularly demanding continuous use.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: high initial sharpness
High initial sharpness — especially sharp from the first cut, ideal when maximum cutting performance is needed immediately.
Sharpness: very long edge life
Very long edge life — maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.
Blade safety: without snap-off segments
Without snap-off segments — continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.

Replacement blades

The Ergocut mini is supplied with a K081 rectangular blade – 39 × 19 × 0.3 mm, usable on all four corners. It only accepts rectangular blades in the K081 format; trapezoid blades do not fit. For everyday use we recommend the K081 made of Solingen carbon steel, and the KM145 stainless steel blade for environments where rust is a concern. Overview of all rectangular blades

Variants

The Ergocut mini is also available in a detectable version for areas with HACCP requirements or metal-sensitive environments. The Ergocut Detectable uses the same compact design and automatic blade retraction – but is designed as a disposable knife without blade change. If you work in standard retail operations, you are in the right place with the Ergocut mini.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the Ergocut mini.

Which blades fit the Ergocut mini?
The Ergocut mini uses the K081 rectangular blade (39 × 19 × 0.3 mm) – a European quasi-standard offered in good quality by several manufacturers. Standard trapezoid blades do not fit. One blade can be used on four corners, which noticeably reduces blade consumption per cutting hour. Overview of all cutter blades
What does “usable 4 times” mean for the blade of the Ergocut mini?
The rectangular blade of the Ergocut mini has four equivalent cutting corners – all four can be used. When one corner is dull, you turn or flip the blade and use the next one. This doubles the service life of a blade compared with a conventional blade that can be used twice, and noticeably reduces blade consumption.
What does safety level 1 mean for the Ergocut mini?
Safety level 1 stands for automatic blade retraction: the blade of the Ergocut mini retracts into the housing as soon as the thumb releases the slider. This protects against accidental cuts when putting the knife down or handing it over. Level 1 is the most widespread standard in German retail.
What distinguishes the Ergocut mini from the Martor Secunorm 175?
The Martor Secunorm 175 is an excellent knife – just as widespread in German retail as the Ergocut mini. The Secunorm 175 has a wider, more ergonomic handle and a GRP housing (glass-fibre-reinforced plastic) that is more resistant to wear. The Ergocut mini is lighter (21 g vs. 31 g), cheaper and convinces with an extremely smooth-running slider. Both offer level 1 protection and a blade that can be used four times.
Is the Ergocut mini suitable for left-handed users?
Yes. The slider of the Ergocut mini is fitted on both sides – right- and left-handed users operate the knife equally well, without any conversion or adjustment. This is standard on high-quality safety knives, but not a given on all low-priced models.
