QuickBack 2 in 1 – automatic blade retraction in a cutter knife

Steel rail | Cutter + safety knife in 1 | Cutting depth up to 76 mm

The Tajima QuickBack 2 in 1 is a cutter knife with an 18 mm snap-off blade of safety level 1 with automatic blade retraction in safety mode. This is made possible by an additional spring-loaded second slider that retracts the blade automatically when it is fully pulled back – in normal cutter knife operation, by contrast, it can be locked in place as usual.

The housing is made of high-quality glass-fibre-filled plastic with soft-grip zones, reinforced by a steel rail in the blade channel that withstands even prying and turning work. The particularly ergonomic design with a large, smooth-running slider sits securely in the hand, and the Japanese carbon steel blade impresses with high initial sharpness – the knife is therefore designed for intensive use of more than 1,000 cuts per day.

The slider is designed exclusively for right-handed users. The cutting depth of up to 76 mm can be adjusted, and the blade is changed without tools directly at the workstation. The narrow housing opening guides the blade precisely, and despite the steel rail the knife remains handy at 121 g compared with other steel-rail cutter knives.

The QuickBack 2 in 1 is suitable for broad use in trades and production – from adhesive tape and cartons to strapping –, but is especially popular with exhibition stand builders looking for a sturdy, versatile cutter knife with an additional safety option. Safety knives overview

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Pull the red slider towards the back and take the inner parts out of the housing.
  2. 2 Remove the old blade and place the new blade exactly on the cam.
  3. 3 Insert the slider with the blade back into the housing.
  4. 4 Push the red slider slightly forward until it latches audibly.
  5. 5 Dispose of old and dull blades safely.

Replacement blades

The QuickBack 2 in 1 is supplied with a K041 (black snap-off blade, Japanese carbon steel). The knife is compatible with standard 18 mm snap-off blades from various manufacturers – for example K041O, K043O (without snap-off segments, for polystyrene) or the Martor blade KM79. Our recommendation for everyday use remains the supplied K041. Overview of all snap-off blades

Alternatives

The QuickBack 2 in 1 occupies a niche between cutter knife and safety knife. If you prefer a classic cutter knife with manual blade retraction, you will find it in the C061. The Martor Secubase 383 follows a similar hybrid principle, but locks the blade in fixed positions instead of using a second slider. If you want a pure safety knife with a long blade instead, you will find it in the US11 or in the Tortoris S21 with adjustable cutting depth.

Accessories

Complement the QuickBack 2 in 1 with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the QuickBack 2 in 1 – we answer them here in detail. If you have further questions, we are happy to help you personally: To the contact form

Which replacement blades fit the QuickBack 2 in 1?
The QuickBack 2 in 1 is supplied with the K041 (black snap-off blade, Japanese carbon steel). Since it is a standard 18 mm snap-off blade, K041O, K043O (without snap-off segments, ideal for polystyrene) or the Martor blade KM79 also fit.
Is the QuickBack 2 in 1 detectable?
No, the QuickBack 2 in 1 has no detectability and no certificate for the food or pharmaceutical sector. For applications with corresponding requirements, we recommend a knife with proven detectability.
Is the QuickBack 2 in 1 suitable for left-handed users?
Only to a limited extent: the slider is designed exclusively for right-handed users. In pure cutter knife mode – blade extended and locked – the knife can also be operated with the left hand, but not in automatic safety mode.
Which safety level does the QuickBack 2 in 1 have?
The QuickBack 2 in 1 achieves safety level 1 “minus”: in safety mode the blade retracts automatically via an additional spring-loaded slider as soon as it is pulled back completely. In addition, the snap-off blade can – as with a classic cutter knife – also be locked in place, which downgrades the rating compared with a pure level 1 safety knife.
