Cutter knife 18 mm DC560 – with Auto-Lock

Cutting depth 80 mm | steel rail with plastic housing | 15 locking positions

The DC560 is an 18 mm Tajima cutter knife of safety level 0 with a manually retractable blade and Auto-Lock slider: the blade locks by itself when the slider is released and holds in each of the 15 positions, even with forceful cuts of up to 25 kg.

The extra stable guide rail made of 1 mm stainless steel sits firmly in the handle of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic with 2K soft grip all round – it does not come loose even under high load and guides the blade with little play. The particularly ergonomic design with thumb slider on top of the handle sits securely in the hand, and the black-coated snap-off blade made of Japanese carbon steel has a high initial sharpness – the knife is therefore designed for intensive use of more than 1,000 cuts per day.

The slider is designed for right-handed users; left-handed users can use the DC560 to a limited extent. The cutting depth can be adjusted in 15 positions up to 80 mm, the blade is changed tool-free, and two replacement blades are ready in the compartment in the handle. At 98 g the knife remains light despite the stainless steel rail.

As a professional cutter knife with a metal rail, the DC560 covers general cutting tasks in building services, maintenance and the trades – from cardboard and adhesive tape to strapping, film, string and plastic. The rail also serves as a lever and screwdriver. The DC560 is the CURT bestseller among cutter knives with a snap-off blade. All Tajima cutter knives

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Press the slider backwards against the slight resistance out of the housing.
  2. 2 Hold the blade on the retaining lug of the slider while doing so.
  3. 3 Remove the dull blade and dispose of it safely.
  4. 4 Place the new blade on the lug.
  5. 5 Slide the slider with the new blade into the housing from the rear until it passes the slight resistance.

Replacement blades

The Tajima DC560 is supplied with three K041 blades (black 18 mm snap-off blade made of Japanese carbon steel) – one fitted, two in the replacement blade compartment. The knife is compatible with standard 18 mm snap-off blades from various manufacturers, such as the uncoated KLB with long edge life or the K043O without snap-off segments for polystyrene. Our recommendation for daily use: the K041. Overview of all snap-off blades

Alternatives

If you are looking for another 18 mm cutter knife, you will find four alternatives to the DC560 here: the OLFA L5-AL comes with a multifunction spike, the OLFA L1 locks the blade with a wheel instead of an Auto-Lock slider, and the C062 is the low-priced basic version. More safety is offered by the Tajima QuickBack 2 in 1 with automatic blade retraction in safety mode (safety level 1).
