Mini manual – compact safety knife with ceramic blade

Safety level 0 | safety grind blade | rounded blade tip

The Slice 10515 mini manual ceramic safety knife relies on a ceramic blade with a safety grind rather than a retraction mechanism: the deliberately reduced initial sharpness limits the risk of injury directly at the blade geometry, regardless of whether the blade is dirty or jammed. Formally, the knife is therefore classified as safety level 0, but thanks to this blade technology it offers protection that goes beyond a classic cutter knife of this level. The smooth-running blade slider can be operated from both sides, and at only 18 grams the mini knife is one of the lightest safety knives in our range – practical for permanent use in a trouser pocket or on a key ring. Suitable for safety officers, logistics managers and production managers in retail, logistics or production who need to open thinner materials such as adhesive tape, film or blister packs precisely and with the knife close at hand. Highlights

  • Increased occupational safety: manual blade retraction combined with the safety grind of the ceramic blade (officially safety level 0, protective effect close to level 1)
  • Comfortable, safe handling: ergonomic, compact design sits securely in the hand
  • Quick, effortless operation: smooth-running blade slider can be operated with little effort
  • Suitable for sensitive environments: ceramic blade spark-free, non-magnetic, electrically non-conductive and rust-free
  • Safety directly at the blade: safety grind limits the cutting depth to 9 mm – protection is retained even if the blade is dirty or jammed

Knife know-how

Not every safety knife is built the same – and you only notice it when it matters in everyday use. In the knife know-how section we show you at a glance how the Mini manual performs in the most important respects: from the safety mechanism and grip quality to blade performance. This lets you judge whether it suits your application. If you have questions about the choice, we are happy to advise you personally.

Further features
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.
Ergonomics: ergonomic design
Ergonomic design — the handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Ergonomics: tool-free blade change
Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Ergonomics: large slider
Large slider — generously sized, can be operated safely and over a large area, even with gloves.
Ergonomics: smooth-running slider
Smooth-running slider — operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight: < 50 g
< 50 g — featherlight, practically unnoticeable when carried all day, for example on the belt or in the hand. This model weighs 18 g.
Material: ceramic
Ceramic — extremely hard and rust-free, stays sharp exceptionally long, more sensitive to lateral loads than steel.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: very long edge life
Very long edge life — maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.
Blade safety: without snap-off segments
Without snap-off segments — continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Blade safety: rounded tip
Rounded tip — prevents puncture injuries without limiting the cutting performance of the blade edge. Particularly relevant for overhead or blind work.
Blade safety: safety grind
Safety grind — deliberately reduced initial sharpness noticeably makes accidental skin cuts harder, without making the blade unusable for the material being cut.
Blade safety: few mounting holes
Few mounting holes — fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Push the orange slider at the rear end downwards.
  2. 2 Hold the housing so that the blade slider is at the bottom.
  3. 3 Pull the housing halves apart at the rear end.
  4. 4 Remove the blade, turn it over or insert a new blade.
  5. 5 To change between right- and left-handed use, place the blade in the other holder.
  6. 6 Put the housing halves back together, front first.
  7. 7 Lock the slider at the rear end again.
  8. 8 Dispose of the dull or old blade safely.

Replacement blades

The Mini manual is supplied with a K071 (ceramic blade with safety grind, rounded tip). The knife accepts only the short ceramic safety blade in the mini cutter format – check compatibility when buying. Special blades overview

Variants

The Mini manual is identical in construction to the automatic Mini ceramic version (U10514) – both use the same ceramic safety blade with safety grind and the same compact housing. The only difference is the blade retraction: while the blade of the Mini manual is retracted by hand, the blade of the Mini ceramic retracts automatically – which is why it is formally classified as safety level 1 instead of level 0. Choose the variant that suits your application.

Alternatives

Besides the Mini manual, CURT offers further compact safety knives with a ceramic blade: the PenCutter automatic (U008) and the PenCutter manual (U011) use the same safety grind blade in a slimmer, pen-shaped design. If you prefer a higher safety level with a metal blade, the Tortoris S21 (US21) offers fully automatic blade retraction with adjustable cutting depth. For particularly price-sensitive applications, the Ergocut mini (U019) with its short blade length is suitable.

Accessories

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the Mini manual – we answer them here in detail. If you have further questions, we are happy to help you personally: To the contact form

Which safety level does the Mini manual have?
Because of its manual blade retraction, the Mini manual is formally classified as safety level 0. Thanks to the safety grind of the ceramic blade, however, the actual protective effect is closer to that of a classic safety level 1 knife.
Is the Mini manual suitable for left-handed users?
Yes, the Mini manual can be used directly on both sides – no conversion is needed for left-handed users. The smooth-running blade slider is equally accessible to both hands.
Is the Mini manual detectable?
The Mini manual has no detectability certification. It is therefore not suitable for use in food or pharmaceutical environments where metal detectors are mandatory.
