Pen Cutter – safety knife with ceramic safety blade

automatic blade retraction | rounded tip | safety grind

The Slice 10512 Pen Cutter automatic ceramic safety knife brings a ceramic blade to the point in a compact, pen-shaped design – inconspicuous in the hand yet clearly recognisable as a safety tool. The smooth-running blade slider can be operated from both sides, with no conversion for right- or left-handed users, enabling a quick change of grip in everyday work. At only 33 grams the Pen Cutter is also one of the featherlight safety knives in the range and stays comfortable to carry even with frequent, long use. This combination makes it a reliable companion for safety officers, logistics managers and production managers who have to handle daily changing cutting tasks in retail branches, logistics or production with as little effort as possible. Safety knives overview

Highlights

  • High occupational safety: automatic blade retraction (safety level 1)
  • Familiar handling: slim pen shape like a thick ballpoint pen – inconspicuous to use and intuitive to operate
  • Smooth operation: large, smooth-running blade slider, directly usable from both sides without conversion for right- or left-handed users
  • High-quality special blade: ceramic blade, chemically neutral, non-conductive and rust-free
  • Reduced risk of cuts: the safety grind makes the blade much blunter than comparable metal blades – with normal pressure on the skin no cuts occur

Knife know-how

Not every safety knife is built the same – and you only notice that when it matters in everyday use. In the knife knowledge section we show you at a glance how the Pen Cutter performs on the most important properties: from the safety mechanism and grip quality to blade performance. This lets you judge whether it suits your use. If you have questions about the choice, we are happy to advise you personally.

Further features

Safety

Without snap-off segments
Continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Rounded tip
Prevents puncture injuries without limiting the cutting performance of the blade edge. Particularly relevant for overhead or blind work.
Safety grind
Deliberately reduced initial sharpness noticeably makes accidental skin cuts harder, without making the blade unusable for the material being cut.
Few mounting holes
Fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Handle & ergonomics

Ergonomic design
The handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Left- and right-handed
Can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Large slider
Generously sized, can be operated safely and over a large area, even with gloves.
Smooth-running slider
Operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight < 50 g
Feather-light, barely noticeable when carried all day, for example on a belt or in the hand. This model weighs 33 g.

Blade

Ceramic
Extremely hard and rust-free, stays sharp exceptionally long, more sensitive to lateral loads than steel.
Uncoated
Constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Normal initial sharpness
Solid basic sharpness from the first cut, entirely sufficient for everyday use.
Very long edge life
Maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.

Special features

Tool-free blade change
Insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Eyelet
For attaching to a belt, carabiner or lanyard so the knife stays within easy reach.
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Turn the front cap to the right and pull it off towards the front.
  2. 2 Extend the blade and remove it to the left.
  3. 3 Turn the blade over or insert a new blade.
  4. 4 Place the blade with its notch exactly on the cam of the blade holder.
  5. 5 Put the cover on from the front, the line marking points upwards.
  6. 6 Turn the cover slightly to the left until it audibly clicks into place.
  7. 7 Dispose of the old, dull blade safely.

Replacement blades

The Pen Cutter is supplied with a K071 (ceramic blade, rounded tip). The knife accepts only the ceramic safety blades in the Pen Cutter format made specifically for this model – make sure they are compatible when buying. Our recommendation for everyday use: the K071 (ceramic blade, rounded tip). Overview of special blades

Variants

The U011 variant (Pen Cutter manual) dispenses with the automatic blade retraction and offers a purely manual mechanism instead – with the identical ceramic blade with safety grind. If you can do without the automatic return or prefer a simpler design, you will find a functionally equivalent alternative to the Pen Cutter here with slightly reduced safety comfort.

Alternatives

If you are looking for a larger ceramic blade or more comfort when changing blades, the U10554 (ceramic auto) and the U10550 (ceramic manual) are two alternatives with a comparable safety-grind technology but more comfortable handling. If you prefer a classic metal blade with a greater cutting depth, choose the US10 (2 cm cutting depth) or the particularly inexpensive U019 (Ergocut mini, 1 cm blade length) – both also with automatic blade retraction.

Accessories

Complement the Pen Cutter with matching small accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.
