Basic mini – compact safety knife at a low price

Automatic blade retraction | 37 g lightweight | very low price

The Basic mini safety knife is a compact entry-level knife for customers who pay particular attention to price. Like every CURT safety knife, it has automatic blade retraction (safety level 1): as soon as you release the slider, the blade retracts into the handle on its own. At only 37 g, the knife sits pleasantly lightly in the hand, the short 10 mm blade protects the goods in the packaging, and thanks to tool-free blade change it is suitable for right- and left-handed users. It is particularly popular in retail and logistics, where small quantities are needed at a very low price. More on choosing: Safety knives overview

Highlights

  • High safety: automatic blade retraction (safety level 1)
  • Extremely light: a weight of only 37 g is easy on the wrist even with frequent use
  • Ergonomic handle: PP plastic handle around an internal metal rail – better grip than a pure cutter knife design
  • For right- and left-handed users: Simply turn the blade over, no conversion needed
  • Very low price: reduced to the essentials – a low-cost entry into safety knives with automatic blade retraction

Applications & cutting materials

Which materials is this knife made for — and where does it reach its limits?

Strong on cartons, adhesive tape and strapping

Strapping (PP/PET) — Safety knife Basic mini 2 im Einsatz

Strapping (PP/PET)

Strapping made of PP or PET secures parcels and pallets. Straps under tension are cut in a defined way – an important point for occupational safety.

Adhesive tape — Safety knife Basic mini 2 im Einsatz

Adhesive tape

Sealed cartons are opened at the adhesive tape. A short, defined cutting depth cuts the tape without scoring the goods underneath.

Corrugated board & cardboard — Safety knife Basic mini 2 im Einsatz

Corrugated board & cardboard

Opening, cutting off flaps of and breaking down cartons is one of the most frequent tasks in goods receiving. Single- to triple-wall corrugated board can be cut through in a controlled manner without damaging the contents.

Further features
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.
Ergonomics: tool-free blade change
Tool-free blade change — insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Ergonomics: thumb slider
Thumb slider — the blade is pushed forward with the thumb in the classic way.
Ergonomics: left- and right-handed
Left- and right-handed — can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Weight: < 50 g
< 50 g — featherlight, practically unnoticeable when carried all day, for example on the belt or in the hand. This model weighs 37 g.
Material: carbon steel
Carbon steel — higher sharpness and longer edge retention than stainless steel. Ideal for dry environments with a high cutting frequency.
Coating: uncoated
Uncoated — constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Sharpness: normal initial sharpness
Normal initial sharpness — solid basic sharpness from the first cut, entirely sufficient for everyday use.
Sharpness: long edge life
Long edge life — much longer service life until the next blade change than standard blades. Reduces change intervals and blade consumption in intensive use.
Blade safety: without snap-off segments
Without snap-off segments — continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Blade safety: rounded tip
Rounded tip — prevents puncture injuries without limiting the cutting performance of the blade edge. Particularly relevant for overhead or blind work.
Blade safety: few mounting holes
Few mounting holes — fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.
