concealed blade – level 3 | metal-detectable | stainless steel blade
The Klever Kutter MDP is a level 3 safety knife: the blade remains permanently concealed behind the protective hook, and cutting takes place only in the narrow cutting channel. Its special feature is the metal-detectable housing – even the tiniest broken-off parts can be reliably removed from the product stream by metal detector. With a stainless steel blade, NSF Food Zone certificate and FDA conformity, it is dishwasher-safe and autoclavable and thus designed for the hygiene requirements of food, pharmaceutical and chemical production. Unlike pure film knives, it cuts film, strapping and cardboard alike. Developed for production plants with an HACCP concept and safety officers who need level 3 protection and detectability at the same time. Safety knives overview
The Klever Kutter MDP shows its strength with stretch film, strapping, adhesive tape and plastic cords – it cuts these very well. Single-wall corrugated board, sacks, non-woven fabric, thick film and PVC and rubber film can also be cut. The narrow 3.3 mm cutting channel is not designed for polystyrene and ropes.
Cut cleanly through stretch and shrink film on pallets and containers.
Film, paper and woven sacks are opened for emptying. The cut is clean, without tearing material into the bulk material.
Opening, cutting off flaps of and breaking down cartons is one of the most frequent tasks in goods receiving. Single- to triple-wall corrugated board can be cut through in a controlled manner without damaging the contents.
The Klever Kutter MDP is a special case in our range: a level 3 BoxCutter with a concealed blade that is also metal-detectable – a combination offered by only a few knives worldwide. This overview shows how safety, handle, blade and detectability work together and which production environments the knife is designed for.
All technical data, the suitable cutting materials and the detectability properties of the Klever Kutter MDP are summarised in the product flyer. The PDF is available to download free of charge and serves as a compact overview for purchasing, occupational safety and HACCP documentation.

Download →The Klever Kutter is available in several versions for different requirements: the orange standard model (H035O) with a carbon steel blade for general goods receiving and an antimicrobial version (H035 Kleen), whose plastic inhibits the growth of germs. All share the design, concealed blade and level 3 safety with the detectable MDP.
In the detectable segment there are further options depending on your requirements: the U19MDP (Ergocut) and the USK12 (OLFA SK-12) are also metal-detectable, but work with an exposed level 1 blade; the Secumax 320 MDP is a detectable film specialist that is not suitable for cardboard. The Klever Kutter MDP remains the only choice when a concealed blade, detectability and cardboard have to come together.

Frequently asked questions about the Klever Kutter MDP: from metal detectability and suitability for food and pharmaceutical production to the stainless steel blade, cleaning and how it differs from detectable knives with an exposed blade.
The Klever Kutter MDP has a housing made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic that is magnetically and metallically detectable. If a part breaks off in the production process, even the smallest fragments can be reliably found in the product stream by metal detector and rejected. This is particularly relevant for HACCP concepts in food production.
The Klever Kutter MDP is designed for food, pharmaceutical and chemical production. NSF Food Zone Certified status, FDA conformity and its suitability for dishwashers and autoclaves make it suitable for hygiene-sensitive production areas. For pure retail or logistics without a detectability requirement, there are lower-priced models.
No, the Klever Kutter MDP is a disposable knife without blade change. The double blade head makes both cutting edges usable, so that around 800 cuts are achieved. Once the blade is dull on both sides, the entire knife is replaced and disposed of safely.
The Klever Kutter MDP uses a corrosion-resistant stainless steel blade because it is used in damp, frequently cleaned hygiene environments. Stainless steel does not rust and withstands dishwashers and autoclaves. The initial sharpness is minimally below that of the carbon version H035O, but the difference is not noticeable in everyday use.
The Klever Kutter MDP is the only knife in our range that combines level 3 safety (concealed blade) with metal detectability and all-round suitability for film and cardboard. Detectable alternatives such as the U19MDP work with an exposed level 1 blade, and pure film knives do not cut cardboard.
