The USK023 is a Level 1 safety knife with automatic blade retraction: As soon as the thumb releases the slider, the blade retracts safely into the housing – accidental contact with the exposed edge is thus ruled out. With a blade length of just under 6 cm the USK023 also cuts thicker cartons, strapping and roll goods in one continuous pass – considerably more reach than classic 9 mm cutters offer. The blade fitted has no snap-off segments, so it deliberately dispenses with individually splintering segments, and thanks to its very long edge life it stays reliably sharp over many cuts even in intensive continuous use. The knife is therefore suited to safety officers, logistics managers and production managers who need a long, robust blade with a reliable safety mechanism in intensive daily use. Download →The USK023 is supplied with a K064 (premium carbon steel blade without snap-off segments, specially for polystyrene). The knife is compatible with standard 9 mm cutter knife blades from various manufacturers – no proprietary blade mount. Our recommendation for everyday use: the K064. The USK023 is also available as the more compact USK022 variant with a blade length of around 4 cm instead of the just under 6 cm of the USK023. Both share the metal housing and automatic blade retraction of safety level 1 – the choice depends on whether reach (USK023) or an even handier design (USK022) is more important.
Besides the USK023, we show further level 1 safety knives with automatic blade retraction: the US21 is more compact and designed for lighter applications, the Martor Secunorm 380 offers a similarly long blade of up to 8 cm for coarser materials, and the ceramic safety blade U10560 scores with a special safety grind at a cutting depth of 76 mm.
