Ceramic 10563 – safety blade with automatic blade retraction

practical squeeze-grip | safety grind blade | smooth operation

The Slice 10563 automatic squeeze-grip ceramic safety knife combines automatic blade retraction (safety level 1) with a ceramic blade: as soon as the squeeze-grip is released, the blade retracts by itself – unlike the slider-based versions of the series, the blade is exposed here by briefly squeezing the grip, which is particularly practical when wearing gloves in everyday work. The safety grind of the ceramic blade additionally limits the cutting depth, independently of the retraction mechanism, and the smooth squeeze-grip mechanism can be operated without much force even with frequent daily use. Suitable for safety officers, logistics managers and production managers who prefer a comfortable squeeze-grip to a classic slider – for example because they regularly work with protective gloves. Safety knives overview

Highlights

  • High occupational safety: automatic blade retraction (safety level 1)
  • Comfortable squeeze-grip: the blade is exposed by squeezing the grip instead of using a slider – particularly practical when wearing gloves
  • Smooth operation: the squeeze-grip mechanism is generously sized and can be operated with little force
  • Chemically inert ceramic blade: rust-free, non-conductive and insensitive to oil or moisture – also suitable for areas where corrosion or sparks are critical
  • Safety grind as a second level of safety: limits the cutting depth of the blade independently of the automatic retraction – remains effective even if the mechanism sticks slightly

Knife know-how

Not every safety knife is built the same – and you only notice it when it matters in everyday use. In the knife know-how section we show you at a glance how the Ceramic 10563 performs in the most important respects: from the safety mechanism and grip quality to blade performance. This lets you judge whether it suits your application. If you have questions about the choice, we are happy to advise you personally.

Further features

Safety

Transport lock
Prevents the blade from extending by accident in a pocket or tool case.
Without snap-off segments
Continuous blade without predetermined breaking points, no risk of a segment breaking off uncontrolled.
Rounded tip
Prevents puncture injuries without limiting the cutting performance of the blade edge. Particularly relevant for overhead or blind work.
Safety grind
Deliberately reduced initial sharpness noticeably makes accidental skin cuts harder, without making the blade unusable for the material being cut.
Few mounting holes
Fewer blade mounting holes mean fewer predetermined breaking points under lateral force, and a lower risk of uncontrolled breakage.

Handle & ergonomics

Ergonomic design
The handle shape is designed around the hand position when cutting and reduces fatigue with repeated use.
Left- and right-handed
Can be used with either hand, with or without conversion depending on the model, equally suitable for left- and right-handed users.
Large slider
Generously sized, can be operated safely and over a large area, even with gloves.
Smooth-running slider
Operates with little effort, noticeably more comfortable with frequent use.
Weight > 100 g
Higher weight, usually due to all-metal construction. More robust, with somewhat less carrying comfort over long periods. This model weighs 104 g.

Blade

Ceramic
Extremely hard and rust-free, stays sharp exceptionally long, more sensitive to lateral loads than steel.
Uncoated
Constant basic sharpness without coating wear, cost-efficient and proven. The most economical choice for standard applications.
Very long edge life
Maximum service life between two blade changes, for the most intensive continuous use with as little changing effort as possible.

Special features

Tool-free blade change
Insert a new blade without tools, done in seconds.
Eyelet
For attaching to a belt, carabiner or lanyard so the knife stays within easy reach.
Knife type: safety knife
Safety knives are designed for continuous professional use — usually with an automatic or manual blade guard that prevents cuts when the knife is not in use. The standard choice in logistics, retail and production.

Blade change – how it works

  1. 1 Open the squeeze-grip fully until the blade is extended.
  2. 2 Locate the button on the back at the blade exit.
  3. 3 Press the button and remove the blade towards the front.
  4. 4 Turn the blade to use the second cutting edge, or insert a new blade (K10526 or K10528).
  5. 5 Slide the blade back into the mount until it audibly clicks into place.
  6. 6 Dispose of dull blades safely in a suitable collection box.

Replacement blades

The Ceramic 10563 is supplied with a K10526 (ceramic trapezoid blade with safety grind, rounded tip) – alternatively, the K10528 with a more pointed blade shape also fits. The knife accepts only these proprietary Slice ceramic blades – check compatibility when buying. Our recommendation for everyday use: the supplied K10526. Overview of all trapezoid blades

Variants

The Ceramic 10563 shares its housing concept, ceramic safety blade and safety grind with three other versions of the same series: Ceramic manual does without automatic retraction and is operated in the classic way with a slider. Ceramic auto uses the same automatic retraction as the 10563, but with a slider instead of a squeeze-grip. Ceramic fully automatic combines the squeeze-grip with fully automatic instead of automatic blade retraction. Choose the right version according to your preferred grip shape and retraction mechanism.

Alternatives

Alongside the Ceramic 10563, CURT offers other level 1 safety knives with different profiles: the bestseller US10 relies on classic automatic blade retraction at 2 cm cutting depth, with a slider instead of a squeeze-grip and without a ceramic blade. Ceramic auto (U10554) brings the same ceramic safety technology with a slider instead of a squeeze-grip. If you need a greater cutting depth, you will find it in the ceramic version with a 76 mm blade (U10560) or in the fully automatic squeeze-grip model (U10564).

Accessories

Complement the Ceramic 10563 with matching accessories: collection boxes for dull blades, lanyards as a safety cord, cutting rulers for precise cuts and holsters for safe storage.

Which replacement blades fit the Ceramic 10563?
The Ceramic 10563 is supplied with the K10526 blade (ceramic trapezoid blade with safety grind and rounded tip). The K10528 also fits as an alternative with a more pointed blade shape – both are proprietary Slice ceramic blades and fit exclusively in Slice handles.
Is the Ceramic 10563 detectable?
No, there is no detectability certification for the Ceramic 10563. For applications where metal detectors are mandatory, for example in food production, we recommend consulting our customer service about suitable alternatives.
Is the Ceramic 10563 suitable for left-handed users?
Yes, the Ceramic 10563 is suitable for left-handed users. The squeeze-grip mechanism can be set up for left-handed use with a simple conversion, without the need for a different model.
Which safety level does the Ceramic 10563 have?
