The Tajima SLIM is an aluminium cutting ruler with an inserted steel edge – for all straight cuts in paper, cardboard, film, textiles and similar materials. The cutter knife runs along the steel edge without cutting into it: the cut stays straight and the ruler undamaged. With rulers made purely of aluminium, by contrast, the blade easily cuts into the soft material – this is precisely the difference in quality compared with simple rulers. A finger guard keeps your hand out of the cutting line, and anti-slip rubber holds the ruler on the surface; in addition there is a metric scale and an eyelet for hanging. Length 30 cm.
The inserted steel edge serves as a guide edge for the knife and protects the ruler: steel is considerably harder than aluminium, so the blade cannot cut into it. This keeps the cut straight and the ruler accurate in the long term.
The body is made of aluminium with a black anodised surface – light, robust and durable. For a cutter knife alone, however, aluminium would be too soft, hence the steel edge.
A continuous, sturdy finger guard keeps the fingers of the holding hand out of the cutting line and thus protects against cut injuries.
A rubber coating is firmly set into the underside. Even light pressure is enough to stop the ruler slipping during cutting – on glass, metal, fabric, plastic or cardboard.
The Tajima rulers meet DIN 865. It specifies how accurate a ruler must be, including at changing temperatures.
The large eyelet lets you hang up the ruler to save space, and it stays within easy reach at the workstation.
